Presentation

The intensive summer courses are of a prevalently technical content, open to all and they are generally attended by people with professional commitments who cannot attend the long-term courses, students from other schools who needs to improve their skills, former students, craftspeople, goldsmiths, designers.

The school will deliver a CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE.
Lessons are held in Italian language. Lessons in other languages could be organized on demand of groups (minimum 5 peoples).

Programme

INTENSIVE JEWELLERY DESIGN COURSE.
Le arti orafe is the most reputable schools in italy where learn the techniques and concepts used in jewellery design. The intensive jewellery design course is recommended both for beginners and for advanced students in jewellery making and design, but it is also suited for professional goldsmiths who want to improve their competences. Former student from schools and academies will also benefits of our sophisticated technique.

INTENSIVE STONE SETTING COURSE.
The mastering of the sophisticated art of stone setting finds its heart in italy, the finest of which is found in tuscany.
This intensive stone setting course is recommended both for beginners and for advanced students in jewellery making and stone setting, but it is also suited for professional goldsmiths and stone setters who want to improve their competences with the newest techniques.

Program:
Preparation of the tools; setting exercises using sheets of metal previously made; setting stones of different shapes and cuts; setting in ready-made objects (rings, pendants….) In silver, especially made for the course;
The following setting techniques are included in the program:
Tile, triangle, leaf; screw, various types of claw, flush, pavè, rail.

Material: the ready pieces in silver and the stones (swarovski high quality cz and other synthetic stones) are included in the fees.
Tools: individual tools like gravers and scorpers, drills and burrs are not included in the course fee. Students may ask to the school’s secretary the list of he tools they’ll need for the lessons, and the address of the local shops. Tools may be ordered by post. Students may also borrow the tools by the school, under payment of 100,00 euro.

INTENSIVE HAND ENGRAVING COURSE.
Tuscany has always prided itself on being the centre of the refined art of engraving precious metal, in which the technique and the pleasure of ornamentation coexists in the most admirable way.
The school is reviving this ancient technique, which can also be used in contemporary design as well rendering excellent results.
Program: preparation of the tools (burrils); engraving exercises using; lines, waves, circles……; “tremble” technique, scratching and milling technique, modelling and patterned style; more complex design, “chiaro-scuro”; engraving of a flat ring with the technique of light modelling; engraving of a rounded ring with all the techniques of the course (so-called “buccellati” style); final exercises on silver sheet.
Material: all the material (sheets of non-precious metal and silver sheet) are included.

INTENSIVE CAD COURSE.
Program: up until recently this technology was not available for jewellery design and it has became useful also to goldsmiths and model makers.
Cad technology allows us to visualize, modify and archive all the ideas, sketches and designs we like and at the same time help us create perfect prototypes in a relatively short amount of time. Rhinoceros, photoshop and jcad3.

Conditions

Enrolment
Students must fill out the enrolment form on-line and then send a fax to the school secretary with a copy of ‘proof of first partial payment’ made to guarantee enrolment in the course. The enrolment form can also be submitted by fax.
Enrolment fee (first payment): 50% of full amount.
Enrolment is complete only after proof of first payment is received.

Balance of Payment (successive payments): the balance of 50% must be paid by the first week of the course, per the school secretary’s instruction.
Cancellation Policy: In order to receive the 50% reimbursement, a registered letter must be received by this office 30 days prior to the beginning of the course. Bank or postal fees not included in reimbursement.
No refunds will be given without 30 days notice.
