Gallery Funaki has been promoting international contemporary jewellery to Australian audiences for over 12 years. In 2006 the inaugural Gallery Funaki International Jewellery Award, titled Connect, showcased the work of 28 jewellers from 12 countries. The gallery invites you to participate in the second Award, titled Transformation.
Your approach to this theme can be process based (for instance the transforming of materials from one state to another, encouraging us to see them in a new way) or it can be conceptual (an investigation of the ideas the word transformation invokes). This is a non-acquisitive award. AU$5000 will be awarded to the first prize recipient. A jury including Mari Funaki, award sponsors Leo & Vivienne Donati and two practitioners from the contemporary jewellery field will select the works for exhibition. Gallery Funaki will exhibit the selected work in a major exhibition in June 2008. The work must be available until January 2009, unless an agreement has been made with the artist. Application deadline: April 15 |
